Louis D. Brown

Education
Mr. Louis D. Brown is an architect by profession who obtained his Associate in Arts degree in 1985. Thereafter, Mr. Brown graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Design from the University of Florida in 1988. Since then Mr. Brown has obtained an associate degree in Dutch/Antillean Law in 1996 from the University of the Netherlands Antilles and is currently pursuing a Master Degree in Public Management and policy from the Open University of the Netherlands.

Work experience
Mr. Brown started his employment as an architect in 1988 at David Morrison Associates N.V. where he worked for a period of 4 years. In 1992 he accepted a position with the Island Territory Sint Maarten as a Policy Advisor at the department for Public Housing, Spatial Planning and Environment.  In 1996 he was promoted to Head of the department, where he served for a period of 8 years. In 2004 Mr. Brown became the director of the newly established Program and Project Bureau, which was transformed in 2007 to the Directorate of Programs and Projects. In December of 2008 Mr. Brown assumed the responsibility of ad-interim director for the Directorate of Management Support Services.  In this function he also was a member of the Concern Team of the Island Government, a member of the Management team of the Island Government and the acting in the stead of the Head of the department of Legal Affairs.

In July of 2010, just prior to the Island Territory Sint Maarten becoming Country, Mr. Brown assumed the position of acting Secretary General of the Sector for Public Housing, Spatial Development, Environment and Infrastructure which has since then been transformed into the Ministry for the same concerns when the Island Territory ceased to exist and the new Country Sint Maarten was established. Until present, Mr. Brown serves as the first acting Secretary General for the Ministry for Public Housing, Spatial Development, Environment and Infrastructure of the new Country Sint Maarten.

Extracurricular activities
In addition to the aforementioned work experience, Mr. Brown also serves as the co-director of N.V. Housing Guarantee Fund Sint Maarten since 2003.
