Education:
Shigemoto attended elementary and secondary education on St. Maarten and left St. Maarten in 1988 for Tampa, Florida where he obtained a bachelor of arts degree with a major in Psychology and a minor in Criminology. Thereafter Shigemoto returned to St. Maarten in 1992 when he worked for two years before getting married and going off to the Netherlands where he studied Hospitalitly Management and obtained a Bachelors in Science degree. During his career with the Island Government he has followed several Public Finance and Managerial courses.
Work experience :
1992-1994: Mullet Bay Resort and Casino; held several positions including Group Sales Coordinator, Supervisor of Activities, and finally Group Sales Executive.
1996-1997: Christelijke Hogeschool Noord-Nederland; Problem based Tutor for the Leisure Management Stream
March 1998- December 1998: Island Government of St. Maarten; Administrative Assistant to the Commissioner of Finance;
Jan 1999-2001:Island Government of St. Maarten; Sr. Policy Worker Finance Department (Financial Policies, Budget and Taxes)

Hiro Shigemoto has built a career within Public Finances working his way up the corporate Ladder within the Finance Department and has had the privilege during his 13 year career to work with 5 different administrations consisting of different political parties in the Executive and Island Council.
He has assisted with transferring the Finance Department over the 13 years and assisted with the constitutional process from 2006- May 2009 and served on the Committee for the Division of assets and liabilities as a member representing St. Maarten (2007-2010),as well as part of the negotiation team for St. Maarten (2007-May 2009). Built and managed reserves for the government of Sint Maarten to the tune of Naf. 65 million.
Hiro is the second past President of the St. Maarten Youth JCI chapter (1987-1988) and was the president of the International Student Organization (1990) (I.S.O.) as well as the Vice President of the Association of Minority Collegians (1991) (A.M.C.) at the University of Tampa .
His hobbies include music, movies, games, play wrestling with his son.
