Central Committee of Parliament to meet twice on Wednesday on Democratic Deficit within the Kingdom and with Minister of Education Arrindell 
 
 

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – Honourable President of Parliament Drs. Gracita Arrindell would like to announce that the Central Committee of Parliament will be meeting twice on Wednesday, March 30.

The Central Committee will meet at 9.00am on Wednesday in the General Assembly Chamber of Parliament in the former Caribbean Palm building.

Members of Parliament (MPs) will discuss the concept advice related to the report, “Kiezen voor het Koninkrijk,” and what are the next steps that need to be taken  The report discusses the democratic deficit within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The aforementioned report was made by the Commission Democratic Deficit and presented in November 2009.  The Commissioner reviewed the role of the Kingdom Council of Ministers and the decision making process and how this can be monitored and controlled.

The establishment of the Commission came out of a meeting held in June 2008 comprising of Kingdom parliamentarians discussing future Kingdom Relations.

The second agenda point is the advices coming out of the Presidium meeting with respect to the positions of Parliamentary Clerk and 1st Deputy Clerk.

On Wednesday afternoon at 2.00pm, the Central Committee will meet with Hon. Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports Affairs Rhoda Arrindell with respect to her project “Get off the Block, Get on the Bus, Get Busy.”  This meeting will take place in the General Assembly Chamber of Parliament.
