Drivers License Procedures

Procedures for Issuance of a Drivers License:

1.Persons born in the Netherlands Antilles:
   Valid Dutch passport or Identification card..
   Persons not born in the Netherlands Antilles:
   Sint Maarten I.D. Card and valid original residence permit.
2. Medical Declaration. validity two (2) months.
3.One (1) Federal fls.10,- stamp. Obtain at the Federal Receivers’s office

Fls.300,- per catergory paid upfront
Fls. 100,--  Drivers License card (once the exams are successfull

Renewal of Drivers License:
1.Persons born in the Netherlands Antilles :
   Valid Dutch passport or Identification card..
   Persons not born in the Netherlands Antilles bring along:
   Sint Maarten I.D. Card and valid original residence permit.
2. Medical Declaration.  validity two (2) months.
3. One (1) Federal fls.10,- stamp. Obtain at the Federal Receivers’s office
4. Original local drivers  license.
5.Fls. 100,-- Drivers License card

Duplicate drivers licenses issue by Census:
1.Persons born in the Netherlands Antilles bring:
   Valid Dutch passport or Identification card..
   Persons not born in the Netherlands Antilles:
   Sint Maarten I.D. Card and valid original residence permit.
2.Police report of driving license when lost or stolen.
   If damaged bring the damaged driving license.
3.Fls. 100,-Paid at the Census Office.

Transfer of: Netherlands, Netherlands Antilles or Aruba Drivers License:
1.Persons born in the Netherlands Antilles bring along:
   Valid Dutch passport or Identification card..
   Persons not born in the Netherlands Antilles bring along:
   Sint Maarten I.D. Card and valid original residence permit.
2. Medical Declaration. validity two (2) months.
3.One (1) Federal fls.10,- stamp. Obtain at the Federal Receivers’s office
4.Valid Netherlands, Netherlands Antilles or Aruba Driving License.
5.Fls. 100,-- fee (paid at the Census Office)

International Drivers  License
1.Persons born in the Netherlands Antilles bring along:
   Valid Dutch passport or Identification card..
   Persons not born in the Netherlands Antilles bring along:
   Sint Maarten I.D. Card and valid original residence permit.
2.Valid Sint Maarten Drivers License
3.Two recent passport pictures.
4.Fls. 35,-- fee (paid at the Census office)

Training permit for motor vehicle on two (2) or three (3) wheels:
1.Persons born in the Netherlands Antilles bring along:
   Valid Dutch passport or Identification card..
   Persons not born in the Netherlands Antilles bring along:
   Sint Maarten I.D. Card and valid original residence permit.
2.Two recent passport pictures.
3.Fls. 50,-- fee (paid at the Census office)
 
Declaration of exemption for driving exams:

To obtain this declaration you must:
      Write the Lt. Governor or Leona Marlin requesting to have your foreign
      Driving license transferred to a local Drivers license. Please include the
      following documents:
      Copy of foreign driving license
      Copy of Valid Passport or Identification card
      Copy of resident permit

Submit these at the government building on the Clem Labega Square at General
Affairs.

Once approved then to:

   Valid Dutch passport or Identification card..
   Persons not born in the Netherlands Antilles bring along:
   Sint Maarten I.D. Card and valid original residence permit.
2. Medical Declaration. validity two (2) months.
3.One (1) Federal fls.10,- stamp. Obtain at the Federal Receivers’s office
4.Fls. 400,- paid at the Census Office.

Note:
Persons residing on the French Side will no longer be able to receive a
Sint Maarten drivers license.  This includes persons currently in possession of
a Sint Maarten Drivers license.
