The objective of Foreign Affairs are:
To u
phold the interests of the Kingdom of the Netherlands through multilateral and bilateral interactions.
To promote and execute the interests of St. Maarten abroad by means of forging and strengthening cooperative ties with the region and the wider international community.
To provide a professional and world class protocol service.
The main tasks of the department are:
To advise the government of St. Maarten and individuals within the organization regarding foreign policy of government
To initiate and coordinate policy development of the country as it relates to international and regional policy affairs
To initiate and coordinate country policy development as it relates to international and regional treaties as well as the management of the treaty administration
To obtain information from individuals about international and regional treaties and policy affairs
To support and head the representative in Kingdom government
To support and head the representative of St. Maarten and officials of St. Maarten in the representation of the Kingdom that are placed in foreign countries
