Soualiga Corporate Toastmasters induct new members
Philipsburg – Soualiga Corporate Toastmasters Club opened the year by inducting 5 new members, namely: Tamara Groeneveldt, Community Police Officers Daryl Chandler, Shawn Crispulo, Rensley Henson and Arcella Leonard.

After a short Christmas break the Soualiga Toastmasters enthusiastically returned to the lectern on Wednesday January 9th. Observing the theme “movies” new and seasoned Toastmasters, as well as guests, fancied themselves on a movie set. In Academy Award style several Toastmasters were recognized for their constant support, commitment and progress.
With a lot of innovative and creative activities and meetings coming up, 2013 promises to be a very active year for the Toastmasters club for civil servants. Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organization that teaches communication and leadership skills through a worldwide network of more than 13,000 clubs in 116 countries. St.Maarten Toastmasters among the top Three Areas in District 81
Toastmasters of Area 6 held their Installation ceremony for the incoming Area Governor and Club Executives on Saturday, June 30 at the Out Reach Center in Maynard building.

District Governor elect Rolando Tobias recognized the outgoing Area Governor Annette Berkel for leading Toastmasters of Area 6 on St. Maarten to be among the top 3 out of the 26 area’s in District 81.
During this ceremony the outgoing Area Governor shared her successful achievements, while leading Area 6 to the President Distinguished Area award  during the term 2011-2012. This is the highest award an Area can achieve during the Toastmasters year and is based on outstanding performance by the Clubs in achieving their educational and administrative goals.
She also led the four established clubs towards achieving President Distinguished Club status.

The first new Club to be formed in the past 5 years, The SAINT-MARTIN EVOLUTION club in Marigot was formed under her leadership.
Also during her term, St Maarten hosted a very successful District Conference where Rolando Tobias and Valerie Brazier were elected to the Top District positions of  District Governor and Lieutenant Governor Marketing for District 81 for 2012-2013.

The governor also inspired the Toastmasters members to stay committed to the personal enrichment program of Toastmasters.
Her words of encouragement to the incoming Area Governor and the clubs executive were to start working early to achieve the goals and keep the Toastmasters standards high.
The incoming Area Governor for the term 2012-2013, Leona Romeo-Marlin pledged to work on holding workshops on communication and leadership that will help the Toastmasters membership on keeping the standards as high as her predecessor.

As part of its restructuring to accommodate new Clubs and provide more leadership opportunities,  District 81 has made a realignment of its structure for the term 2012-2013.  St. Maarten will now form part of Area 26 in Division E along with the territories of Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands. 
During the evening, clubs presented awards as a way of recognizing and congratulating all Toastmasters members who achieved educational awards during this year.

The Soualiga Toastmasters Club was alighted with joy on Saturday April 14th as Toastmaster Danae Daal won the Area Table Topics Contest.  Toastmaster Danae Daal is new member of the Soualiga Corporate Toastmasters Club with a passion to enhance her communication and leadership skills.  With this victory Ms. Daal qualifies and will represent St. Maarten in the District Competition.
Toastmaster Daal will be competing against Toastmasters from the neighboring islands on May 19th 2012 at the upcoming Toastmasters Conference at the Maho Convention Center. Toastmaster Daal works as treaty officer at the Directorate of Foreign Relations and obtained her degree in law in the Netherlands. The executive board and members of the Soualiga Corporate Toastmasters Club is very proud of TM Daal’s accomplishment and will support her endeavors as a member and as a competitor in the upcoming conference.

2 more Civil Servants join SCTC in 2012
On February 8th, The Soualiga Corporate Toastmasters Club increased its membership in 2012 with two Civil Servants, namely Danae Daal a Treaty Lawyer at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Harriette Rogers an administrative worker of the Receivers Office. Both Civil Servants have taken great  initiative by giving their first  "ICE BREAKER" speeches during the pinning ceremony. 
These 2 new Toastmaster have set a wonderful tone of commitment in the club, leaving the rest of the club members eager to hear their upcoming speeches.  The Soualiga Corporate Toastmasters club continues to emphasize the importance of the program, as it relates to the enhancement of Civil Servants communication and leadership skills. All Civil Servants and the general public are encouraged to come out and experience the Toastmasters program by joining one of 5 clubs on Sint Maarten. 
The Toastmasters motto is "Where Leaders Are Made".
