** Traffic measures in connection with Parliamentary Elections **


The Police Department is informing the general public that following traffic measures will be taken in connection with the Parliamentary elections which will be held on Monday, February 26th2018.

1. Front Street will be closed on that day from Hotel Steeg (L’Escargot Alley) to Emmaplein.

2. No commercial delivery vehicles and public transportation will be allowed to use Arlette Peters road (Old Cake House road) on that day.

All drivers making use of the public roads on that day should take keen note of this information and follow the measures that have been taken.

** ELECTION DAY FOR THE EMPLOYER **


Every employer is obliged to ensure that each employee in its employment, whom is an eligible voter, receives the opportunity to cast his/her vote:


• in the event such cannot take place outside of the scheduled working hours, and

• the voter is not hindered for more than two (2) hours from carrying out his/her work.


Please note that the polling stations are opened from 8am-8pm.

The employer whom handles contrary to the foregoing, will be sanctioned with detention (Dutch: hechtenis) of maximum 1 month or a fine of maximum one thousand guilders.


In this regard, reference is made to article 45 and 129 of the Electoral Ordinance.

** PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT **


The Council Of Ministers hereby informs the General Public that Civil Servants have been granted time off from work to vote, as of 3:00 PM on Monday February 26th 2018, if the service permits.


Civil Servants that may opt to vote at another time will require permission from their respective

Management.

** URGENT NOTICE ~ Civil Registry **


The Management of the Civil Registry department would like to inform the public of the following:


In connection with the upcoming Elections, both locations of the Civil Registry department (Philipsburg and Simpsonbay) will be closed on February 26th and 27th 2018.


The Philipsburg office will be open on February 26th 2018 solely for Election purposes. This from 08.30-18:00

Both locations will resume their regular working hours on Wednesday February 28th, 2018, at 08.30 a.m. by scheduled appointments.

Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Jorien Wuite reminds the general public that due to the Parliamentary Elections all schools will be closed on Monday, February 26th, 2018 and will resume normal operations on Tuesday, February 27th, 2018.

CIVIL REGISTRY Department will be distributing the voting cards for the upcoming parliamentary Elections of February 26th 2018, at 4 different locations.

This will take place from Monday February 5th through Friday February 9th 2017 between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00

Once you are register at the Civil Registry dept. and you are an eligible voter you may collect your voting card at one of the distribution points. Please take note that your district is allied to the address that you are register under at the Civil Registry Department.

** HOW TO CAST YOUR VOTE **


The polling stations opens at 8am closed 20:00 (PM)

1.     Registration voter: The voter hands the chairman his election card and his identification

2.     Task of the chairman: The chairman receives the election card and clearly identifies the number under which the voter according to the election card appears in the electoral register. He/she with a clear voice will mentioned the number to the second member.

3.     Task of the second member: he/she mentions the name mentioned in the electoral register with the number mentioned by the chairman. The chairman checks the name on the basis of the election card, and the approval is becoming confirmed with a "Yes". The second member sets his/hers paragraph next to the name of de voter.

4.     Award a Ballot by the chairman: the chairman presents a Ballot to the voter, which is folded in such a way that the signature of the chairman of the central electoral committee is visible.

5.     The way of voting: After receiving the Ballot, the voter has to go directly to a voting booth that is not occupied and votes by coloring a white box with a red pencil in front of the name of the candidate of his choice. The voter then folds the Ballot close that the names of the candidates are no longer visible and he goes directly to the bins.

6.     The third member keeps an overview of the voters that casted and make sure that ballots with that the signature of the chairman of the central electoral committee is visible is deposit in the voting bin.

7.     Forth member keeps a tally count of all persons that comes in.

8.     Fifth member: keeps an eye on everything regulate with police officer the lines. Check the validation of documents before entering the polling station.

all who has been included in the electoral register

     On 06 December 2017: everyone who is registered in the Basic Personal Records Administration. (Including the ones that on February 26, 2018 are/became 18 years)

     Everyone must be in possession of the Dutch nationality
